Only 54% of children in Houston are kindergarten ready (Good Reason Houston, 2024). Many are lacking key skills in literacy, maths, and self-regulation. Those who start behind are more likely to struggle with reading by third grade.
Research shows that children are more prepared when their parents are financially stable and equipped to support their learning at home. Kindergarten readiness prepares children for long-term academic success, encompassing social-emotional development, independence, and early literacy skills. Kindergarten ready children are more likely to have better academic outcomes, graduate from high school, and attend college. Investing in kindergarten readiness promotes educational equity, allowing children from all backgrounds to learn and thrive.

Empower. Educate. Elevate.
Early Solutions Houston strives to ensure every child enters kindergarten ready to succeed by equipping parents with the tools, confidence, and support to lead the way.
How do we do this?
Through personalized mentoring, total wellness programs, and two-generation learning approaches, we strengthen families, build children’s academic and social-emotional skills, and help parents grow personally and professionally—creating a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Our trained parent mentors work one-on-one with families to guide them through every stage of the path to school readiness. They provide personalized strategies for fostering literacy, math, and social-emotional skills at home, ensuring children are fully prepared for kindergarten.
We take a holistic approach to family well-being, offering resources in nutrition, mental health, and healthcare access. By supporting parents and children’s physical and emotional health, we create a stable foundation for learning and growth.
We bring parents and children together in shared learning environments where they read, play, and problem-solve side by side. These experiences not only strengthen academic skills but also deepen family connections and set the stage for long-term success.
